The Grackle (often called a figure-8 ) noseband offers the following features The upper loop of the 8, closest to the ears, prevents the horse from opening his mouth and crossing his jaws. The lower loop of the 8, closest to the bit, loops down from the nose around the chin holding the bit in a straight position. This gives better control from the bit and because it holds the bit in position. Comfortably prevents the horse from running away and throwing his head.
