Festool GRANAT NET D150 P60 GR NET/50 Abrasive Mesh Discs
At a Glance: Professional 150 mm P60 GRANAT NET abrasive mesh discs for high material removal on repair compounds, fillers, paints, varnishes and other surfaces that generate large quantities of sanding dust. The open mesh structure provides full-surface dust extraction, reduced clogging, excellent tear resistance and long abrasive life. Supplied in a pack of 50.
The Festool GRANAT NET D150 P60 GR NET/50 is a high-performance 150 mm abrasive mesh designed specifically for sanding materials that produce large quantities of dust. Instead of relying on a fixed pattern of extraction holes, the open mesh construction allows dust to be extracted across virtually the entire abrasive surface. This keeps the sanding interface cleaner, reduces clogging and helps the P60 abrasive maintain a consistently high material-removal rate. The robust mesh structure combines excellent tear resistance with particularly stable edges, helping the abrasive withstand demanding professional use while reducing the risk of edge damage and unwanted scratches. GRANAT NET is especially well suited to repair compounds, filler, paint, varnish and dusty base layers and is aimed at painters, varnishers, drywall installers and joiners. Because there is no extraction-hole pattern to align, the disc can also be positioned on a compatible 150 mm sanding pad quickly and easily.
Traditional sanding discs rely on a series of holes that must align with the extraction openings in the sanding pad. GRANAT NET uses an open mesh structure across the entire disc. Air and sanding dust can therefore pass through virtually any part of the abrasive surface, providing exceptionally effective extraction without requiring the operator to line up a specific hole pattern.

Extra Info
Extra Information
- What does D150 mean? D150 identifies the abrasive as a round disc with a nominal diameter of 150 mm.
- What does P60 mean? P60 identifies a coarse abrasive grade. It is intended for relatively aggressive material removal and early sanding stages rather than final finishing.
- What does GR NET mean? GR NET identifies Festool's GRANAT NET open-mesh abrasive technology.
- What does /50 mean? The package contains 50 individual abrasive mesh discs.
- Why is there no hole pattern? The mesh itself is open across the complete disc, allowing air and sanding dust to pass through virtually the whole surface. Individual extraction holes are therefore unnecessary.
- Why is GRANAT NET particularly good for filler? Filler and repair compounds can generate enormous quantities of fine dust that quickly clog conventional abrasive paper. Full-surface extraction removes this dust much more effectively.
- Why does reduced clogging improve abrasive life? When sanding dust does not accumulate between the abrasive grains, more cutting edges remain exposed and able to remove material efficiently.
- Why is edge stability important? Sanding close to workpiece edges places additional stress on an abrasive. GRANAT NET's resistant mesh helps prevent the edge from tearing or folding and potentially marking the surface.
- Is P60 suitable for final sanding? No. P60 is a coarse preparation grit. After levelling or removing the required material, continue through progressively finer abrasive grades according to the required finish.
Soft fillers, repair compounds and similar substrates can produce more dust than a conventional perforated abrasive can remove efficiently. GRANAT NET solves this by turning virtually the entire disc into an extraction area. Dust has many more paths away from the sanding surface, helping maintain both material-removal performance and abrasive life.
P60 is intended for aggressive surface preparation. It is useful for levelling uneven filler, cutting back coatings or removing substantial material before finer sanding begins. The visible P60 scratch pattern should normally be refined with subsequent abrasive grades before painting, varnishing or other high-quality finishing work.
One of the practical advantages of GRANAT NET is how quickly the abrasive can be fitted. With a conventional perforated disc, the extraction holes need to line up with the corresponding openings in the sanding pad. With GRANAT NET, the operator simply centres the disc on the pad because the open mesh provides extraction across the whole surface.
Pro Tips
- Use P60 for initial levelling and aggressive material removal rather than attempting to achieve a finished surface in one step.
- After P60, progress through suitable intermediate grit sizes rather than jumping directly to a very fine abrasive.
- Connect effective dust extraction whenever machine sanding; GRANAT NET performs best when airflow can make full use of the open mesh.
- Centre the disc carefully on the sanding pad even though no extraction holes need to be aligned.
- Use light to moderate machine pressure. Excessive pressure can restrict airflow and make the abrasive work less efficiently.
- Allow the P60 grit to cut rather than forcing the sander aggressively into the substrate.
- Keep the sanding pad flat on broad surfaces to avoid creating unnecessary low spots in filler or repair compounds.
- Inspect the work frequently when using P60 because the coarse abrasive can remove material quickly.
- Clean the workpiece before moving to the next finer grit so loose P60 particles cannot contaminate the following sanding stage.
- Replace the disc if the mesh becomes torn, badly damaged or contaminated with material that cannot be extracted effectively.
- Festool lists the PP D150/2 protection pad as a matching accessory for the D150 GRANAT NET system; it can be useful for protecting the sanding pad during intensive mesh-abrasive work.
- Store unused mesh discs flat and protected from moisture, dirt and workshop contamination.
How to Use
- Confirm that P60 is suitable for the material and the required stage of surface preparation.
- Switch off and disconnect the sanding machine from its power source before changing abrasives where required by the operating instructions.

- Fit the appropriate protection pad where required for the chosen sanding setup.
- Centre the GRANAT NET D150 P60 disc on the sanding pad.
- Press the mesh evenly onto the pad so it is securely attached.
- No extraction-hole alignment is necessary.
- Connect a suitable dust extractor.
- Select an appropriate machine speed for the substrate being sanded.
- Place the sanding pad flat against the surface.
- Guide the sander using smooth, overlapping passes and controlled pressure.
- Inspect the surface frequently because P60 removes material rapidly.
- Continue until the required levelling or material removal has been achieved.
- Replace the abrasive if the mesh becomes torn, damaged or no longer sands efficiently.
- Clean the workpiece thoroughly before moving to the next finer abrasive grade.
Safety
Safety
- Wear suitable eye and respiratory protection when sanding repair compounds, fillers, paints, varnishes and other dust-producing materials.
- Use hearing protection where required when operating powered sanding equipment.
- Identify the coating or substrate before sanding and follow the material manufacturer's safety information.
- Paint, varnish, filler and repair-compound dust can contain hazardous substances. Use extraction appropriate to the material being processed.
- Do not sand asbestos-containing or other specially regulated hazardous materials without approved specialist equipment and procedures.
- Make sure the abrasive mesh is correctly centred and securely attached before starting the sander.
- Do not use mesh discs that are torn, badly damaged or contaminated.
- Use controlled sanding pressure. Excessive force can increase heat, reduce airflow and accelerate abrasive and sanding-pad wear.
- Use particular care with P60 grit because its high material-removal rate can remove filler or coatings rapidly.
- Secure small or loose workpieces before sanding.
- Use suitable dust extraction to obtain the full benefit of the GRANAT NET open-mesh structure.
- Disconnect the sander from its power source before servicing or changing sanding pads where required by the machine instructions.
- Dispose of sanding dust and used abrasives according to the material manufacturer's requirements and applicable regulations.
- Follow the Festool sander, abrasive and workplace safety instructions before use.
