Product description

Festool HSK-A 80x130 Hand Sanding Block with Dust Extraction

At a Glance: Ergonomic 80 x 130 mm manual sanding block with integrated dust extraction, adjustable suction bypass and StickFix abrasive attachment, designed for clean and controlled sanding of edges, corners and difficult-to-reach surfaces.

The Festool HSK-A 80x130 is a professional hand sanding block that brings effective dust extraction to areas where a powered sander may be too large, too aggressive or simply unable to reach. Connect it to a suitable Festool extractor hose and sanding dust is removed directly from the work area while you sand by hand, helping keep the abrasive cleaner, the workpiece easier to inspect and the working environment considerably more pleasant. An integrated bypass allows the suction force to be adjusted so the block moves smoothly over the surface without being pulled down excessively by the extractor. Its comfortable, easy-grip handle is shaped for prolonged manual sanding, while the rounded corners of the hook-and-loop backing help protect adjoining surfaces from accidental marking. Designed for Festool 80 x 133 mm abrasives, the HSK-A 80x130 is particularly useful for fillers, edges, corners, narrow surfaces and detailed intermediate or fine sanding in painting, decorating and drywall applications.

Hand sanding without leaving dust control behind

Some areas simply cannot be reached comfortably with a machine sander. The HSK-A 80x130 solves that problem by combining the feel and control of hand sanding with direct dust extraction. It is particularly useful on edges, inside corners and detailed filler work where precision matters more than aggressive material removal.

Benefits

  • Cleaner hand sanding: Dust can be extracted as it is generated instead of accumulating on the workpiece and surrounding area.
  • Longer abrasive life: Removing loose sanding dust helps reduce premature loading of the abrasive.
  • Better visibility: A cleaner surface makes it easier to see scratches, high spots and remaining defects while working.
  • Excellent control: Manual sanding allows delicate surfaces and small areas to be worked more carefully than with a powered sander.
  • Comfort over longer jobs: The ergonomic grip is designed to sit naturally in the hand and reduce discomfort.
  • Less risk of surface damage: Rounded backing corners are kinder to neighbouring finished areas.
  • Adjustable extractor behaviour: The bypass makes it possible to reduce excessive suction that might otherwise make the block difficult to move.
  • System convenience: Uses the familiar Festool 80 x 133 mm abrasive format, simplifying abrasive stock in a Festool-equipped workshop.

Extra Info

Extra Information

  • What does HSK-A mean? HSK identifies Festool's hand sanding block range, while the A version is equipped for extraction.
  • What does 80x130 mean? This identifies the nominal sanding-block format. Festool specifies 80 x 133 mm abrasive sheets for the block.
  • Why use extraction when hand sanding? Even manual sanding can create substantial fine dust. Extracting it directly through the sanding block keeps the work area cleaner and helps prevent dust from continually collecting between the abrasive and surface.
  • What does the bypass do? Powerful extractors can create enough suction to pull the sanding block tightly against the workpiece. Opening the bypass admits additional air and allows the suction force at the sanding face to be reduced to a comfortable level.
  • Why rounded backing corners? Sharp corners on a sanding block can mark adjacent surfaces when working close to an edge. Festool rounds the corners of the hook-and-loop layer to reduce this risk.
  • Why use a hand block instead of sanding by finger pressure? A sanding block distributes pressure more uniformly over the abrasive, producing a flatter and more consistent result while reducing local finger marks.
  • Why is it useful on filler? Filled surfaces frequently require careful refinement around corners and transitions. The HSK-A gives the operator direct feedback while extraction removes the large amount of fine dust typically produced by filler.
Adjust the bypass – don't fight the extractor

Maximum suction is not always the best setting for hand sanding. If the block feels as though it is sticking to the surface, open the bypass gradually until the block moves freely while still collecting dust effectively. The correct balance gives you comfortable movement, reliable dust extraction and better control over the finished surface.

Pro Tips

  • Start with the bypass partly open and adjust the suction while sanding until the block moves comfortably across the surface.
  • Let the abrasive do the cutting. Excessive hand pressure can create uneven surfaces and wear the abrasive prematurely.
  • Use the full face of the sanding block on flat areas to maintain an even sanding pattern.
  • When sanding a sharp edge, control the block carefully so you do not unintentionally round over the corner.
  • Change to a finer abrasive progressively rather than trying to remove coarse sanding scratches with a very fine grit.
  • Keep the hook-and-loop surface free from dust and debris so abrasives remain securely attached.
  • Check the extraction openings periodically during heavy filler sanding and clear them if dust has compacted inside.
  • Use directional lighting across filled walls or panels to reveal high spots and imperfections while sanding.
  • For delicate finished surfaces, make sure the rounded corners and underside of the block are free from trapped coarse particles before use.
  • Replace a clogged abrasive rather than increasing pressure to compensate for reduced cutting performance.

How to Use

  • Select a compatible 80 x 133 mm Festool abrasive in the appropriate grit for the material and sanding stage.
  • Check that the sanding-block backing is clean and free from trapped debris.
  • Position the abrasive squarely on the StickFix surface and press it down evenly.
  • Connect the supplied hose adapter to the HSK-A 80x130.
  • Connect a suitable Festool extractor hose.
  • Start the dust extractor.
  • Adjust the bypass until the sanding block has sufficient dust extraction without sticking excessively to the workpiece.
  • Hold the ergonomic handle naturally and place the abrasive flat against the surface.
  • Sand using smooth, controlled strokes and even pressure.
  • Inspect the surface regularly and change grit when the required stage has been completed.
  • Replace the abrasive if it becomes damaged, heavily clogged or worn.
  • After use, disconnect the extractor and clean accumulated sanding dust from the block and adapter.

Safety

Safety

  • Wear suitable eye and respiratory protection when sanding materials that generate hazardous dust.
  • Use a dust extractor with the appropriate dust classification for the material being processed.
  • Identify old paints, coatings and construction materials before sanding, particularly where hazardous substances may be present.
  • Do not sand asbestos-containing or other specially regulated hazardous materials without approved equipment and procedures.
  • Inspect the sanding block, hose adapter and abrasive before use.
  • Make sure the abrasive is securely attached before sanding.
  • Do not use torn or contaminated abrasive sheets that could damage the workpiece.
  • Adjust excessive suction using the bypass rather than forcing the block across the surface.
  • Keep extraction passages clear so dust can be removed effectively.
  • Dispose of sanding dust according to the requirements of the material being processed and applicable regulations.
