Product description

Festool VAC SYS FV Foot Valve

At a Glance: Foot-operated release valve that vents the VAC SYS vacuum pad while leaving both hands free to support and remove the workpiece safely.

The Festool VAC SYS FV foot valve makes releasing vacuum-clamped workpieces faster, safer and more convenient. Designed for the Festool VAC SYS SE 1 or an expanded system combining the VAC SYS SE 1 and SE 2, the valve allows the operator to release the vacuum pad with a foot while continuing to hold the workpiece securely with both hands. This is especially valuable when handling large, heavy, delicate or freshly finished components that could be damaged if released without proper support. The robust valve can be secured to the floor with screws to create a stable, predictable operating position and reduce movement during repetitive work. It is a practical original Festool system accessory for professional routing, sanding, planing, sawing, filling and finishing applications performed with the VAC SYS vacuum clamping system.

Hands-free release for safer workpiece handling

Vacuum clamping makes it possible to machine a workpiece from multiple sides without conventional clamps obstructing the working area. The VAC SYS FV completes this workflow by allowing the operator to support the component with both hands before releasing the vacuum, improving control and reducing the risk of the workpiece dropping, tipping or striking the clamping unit.

Product Highlights

  • Hands-free vacuum release: Operated by foot so both hands remain available to support and control the workpiece.
  • Controlled pad venting: Releases the vacuum holding force by admitting air into the clamping system.
  • Safer workpiece removal: Helps reduce the risk of large, heavy or delicate components dropping when the vacuum is released.
  • Improved productivity: Speeds up repetitive workpiece changes during workshop and production tasks.
  • Floor-mounting capability: Can be attached to the floor with screws for a stable and consistent operating position.
  • VAC SYS system compatibility: Suitable for a single VAC SYS SE 1 or an expanded SE 1 and SE 2 configuration.
  • Simple mechanical operation: Requires no separate electrical connection at the foot valve.
  • Genuine Festool accessory: Designed to integrate correctly with the Festool VAC SYS vacuum clamping system.

Product Compatibility

  • Festool VAC SYS SE 1: Designed for use with the primary VAC SYS vacuum clamping unit.
  • Festool VAC SYS SE 1 and SE 2: Suitable for systems combining the primary and secondary clamping units.
  • Festool VAC SYS vacuum pump: Used as part of a complete VAC SYS system connected to the appropriate vacuum pump.
  • VAC SYS vacuum pads: Releases compatible vacuum pads installed on the SE 1 or SE 2 clamping units.
  • VAC SYS vacuum hose: Integrates into the correctly connected VAC SYS vacuum hose circuit.
  • System accessory only: The foot valve does not generate a vacuum and cannot clamp a workpiece without the remaining VAC SYS components.
  • Not a dust-extraction valve: Designed for the VAC SYS clamping system and not for controlling a mobile dust extractor or suction hose.

Features

Features

  • Foot-operated control: Enables vacuum release without removing either hand from the workpiece.
  • Vacuum-pad release function: Vents the system so that the clamped component can be removed.

Extra Info

Extra Information

  • The foot valve releases the vacuum holding force; it does not switch the vacuum pump on or off.
  • A complete operating system requires the appropriate VAC SYS clamping unit, vacuum pad, hose connections and vacuum pump.
  • The valve does not increase the permitted workpiece size, weight or holding capacity of the fitted vacuum pad.
  • Vacuum holding performance depends on the workpiece surface, pad size, seal condition, hose integrity and vacuum level.
  • Smooth, clean and sufficiently airtight surfaces generally provide the most reliable vacuum hold.
  • Porous, heavily textured, damaged or uneven materials may not maintain a safe vacuum and should be tested before machining.
  • The valve can be fixed to the floor with suitable screws to prevent movement during repeated operation.
  • Position the valve where it can be reached comfortably without creating a trip hazard or allowing accidental operation.

Pro Tips

  • Secure the valve to the floor when it will be used regularly at a fixed VAC SYS workstation.
  • Position the pedal so it can be reached naturally without stretching, turning or losing balance.
  • Support the workpiece firmly with both hands before pressing the valve to release the vacuum pad.
  • Keep vacuum pads and workpiece contact surfaces clean to obtain the strongest and most reliable seal.
  • Inspect hoses and connections regularly for kinks, cuts, loose fittings or leaks that could reduce vacuum performance.
  • Use the smallest suitable vacuum pad that provides the required support without obstructing the machining area.
  • Test unfamiliar or slightly porous materials before beginning work and continuously monitor the VAC SYS vacuum gauge.
  • Route hoses around the workstation so they cannot be crushed, kinked or caught under the foot valve.

How to Use

  • Switch off and isolate the VAC SYS vacuum pump before installing or changing any hose connections.
  • Place the foot valve on a firm, level surface within comfortable reach of the operator.
  • If required, secure the valve to the floor using suitable fasteners and the provided fixing points.
  • Connect the valve into the VAC SYS hose circuit exactly as shown in the VAC SYS operating instructions.
  • Inspect every hose and connection to confirm that it is secure, unobstructed and free from damage.
  • Start the vacuum pump and place the workpiece correctly on the selected vacuum pad.
  • Confirm that the required vacuum level has been reached and that the workpiece is securely held before machining.
  • Complete the routing, sanding, planing or finishing operation without touching the foot valve.
  • Stop the power tool and wait for all moving parts to stop completely.
  • Take a secure hold of the workpiece with both hands.
  • Press the VAC SYS FV foot valve to vent the vacuum pad and release the holding force.
  • Wait until the vacuum has released completely, then lift the workpiece away in a controlled manner.
  • Allow the valve to return to its normal position and confirm that the system is ready before clamping the next workpiece.

Safety

Safety

  • Always support the workpiece securely with both hands before operating the foot valve.
  • Do not press the foot valve while routing, sanding, sawing, planing or performing any other machining operation.
  • Stop the connected power tool and wait for all moving parts to stop before releasing the workpiece.
  • Confirm that the required vacuum level has been reached before beginning work.
  • Do not rely on vacuum clamping when the workpiece surface is porous, damaged, uneven or unable to maintain a secure seal.
  • Do not exceed the load, workpiece-size or holding-force limits specified for the fitted VAC SYS pad and clamping unit.
  • Secure the foot valve against unwanted movement and position it where it will not create a trip hazard.
  • Route hoses safely and protect them from sharp edges, crushing, heat and moving machinery.
  • Never use a damaged, leaking, sticking or modified foot valve.
  • Switch off and isolate the vacuum pump before installing, disconnecting or servicing the valve.
  • Do not use the foot valve as a substitute for additional support where the workpiece could cause injury if released.
  • Follow all operating and safety instructions supplied with the VAC SYS pump, clamping units and vacuum pads.
